En Primeur 2012 – A Pauillac snip!

Grand Puy Lacoste 5eme Cru Classé, Pauillac just £365 per dzn IB

When first pricing this offer I forgot to convert Euros to Pounds and thought the price was OK, BUT once I’d noticed my error and made the conversion into “real money” I realised we had a rather nice price on this delicious Coe’s favourite wine!

Under the stewardship of the Borie family of Ducru Beaucaillou, the wines from this immaculately run estate have routinely over-delivered on its modest 5th growth classification, This is arguably the best value and certainly one of the most reliable wines from Pauillac at present.

Grand Puy Lacoste 2012

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, 5eme Cru Classé, Pauillac – Price £ 365 IB

Aromas of tobacco leaf, roasted herbs and red and black currants cascade from the glass of this medium-bodied, restrained, down-sized 2012 Grand Puy Lacoste. Displaying a dark ruby/purple colour and no herbaceousness, this lighter-styled wine is somewhat reminiscent of the 1999 and 2001. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.     Robert Parker Junior
