Chateau Brown Blanc 2010 – double trophy winner

“Brown Blanc” is an amusing contradiction, but this sophisticated dry white is rapidly building a reputation that is the envy of the region. The 2010 Brown Blanc garnered TWO international trophies¹ in 2012 at the International Wine Challenge and the Decanter World Wine Awards. These awards follow the 2008, which was one of only two Bordeaux wines featured in the 2011 Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines.

This is a highly rated wine and there are only a few cases left, we will ship these in the next six weeks – grab a case while you still can!

The wine has wonderfully intense lifted aromas

The palate is dry but rich. The wines rounded texture combines with  flavours of ripe mango, nectarine and apricot. A crisp, fresh mineral note balances the ripe fruit giving lovely length and a clean finish. Notes of coconut and vanilla integrate well with the rich fruit.

About the estate
Château Brown is ideally placed on deep gravel soils in Pessac-Léognan (the elite northern section of the Graves). Owned jointly by the Mau and Dirkzwager families – the estate’s owners are committed to steadily unlocking what they believe to be its great potential.  These recent awards confirm Estate Manager Jean-Christophe Mau’s belief that Château Brown is truly a “value-player” amongst Bordeaux’s top white wines. The exceptional quality and value consistently offered by its wines must surely make Château Brown a candidate for elevation to Cru Classé in any future re-classification of the Graves.

About the wine
A perfect wine for entertaining, this is a classic Graves blend of 70% Sauvignon and 30% Semillon with fresh creamy citrus fruit on the nose, a broad dry palate with fine minerality, good body and great depth of flavour. A classy all-rounder it shows elegance and character as an aperitif and the weight and richness to accompany every course of a meal from starter through to cheeses. As just 4 of the estate’s 28 hectares of vines produce white grapes production of this wine is very limited!

¹White Bordeaux Blend Trophy at the IWC and a Regional Bordeaux Trophy at the DWWA.
